I have just been shopping for a new fire and it has been such fun. I have some beautiful fireplaces in my bedrooms and I would really like to be able to use them. However, I do not like the idea of messy soot in the bedrooms and so I have decided to try for a cleaner solution. I thought about wood burning stoves but I am not keen on the idea of carrying all of the fuel up the stairs and although they are cleaner than open fires, there would still be some mess. I have therefore decided that gas is the answer and I have found some lovely gas fireplace inserts which will look really nice and fit in with the period features of the house. I just need some fireplace accessories to make them look like they are real fire maybe a bit of poker or even a whole set of fire irons would look good. I think my guest bedrooms will look fantastic and we will have the additional advantage of being able to take the chill off the rooms before bed by popping on a gas fire which is clean and efficient.
